How To Add Sockets To Items In Diablo 3

Ramaladni's Gift tooltip.

Ramalandi's Souvenir (or RG, or Rama's) is a consumable added to Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls in Patch 2.one. This object looks like a legendary material when dropped by monsters, and using information technology up allows a character to add a socket to a weapon, providing the weapon does not already accept one. (Weapons found with a socket can accept information technology enchanted away, and so replaced by the RG.)

This item is Blizzard's effort to address the long-standing "weapons are useless without sockets" issue. Ramalandi'south Gift effectively adds a socket every bit the 5th chief affix to a weapon, much similar enchanting without having to change/sacrifice one of the initial primary affixes.

In that location are rules, of course:[1]

  • Only works on weapons.
  • Will non add together an additional socket to a weapon that already has one.
  • Can be used to add a socket to a weapon that had a socket which was enchanted away. (Though there were many bugs with this in early on PTR testing.)
  • RG is not a seasonal legendary and volition drib in all game modes once Patch two.1 goes alive.
  • Only drops in Torment 1 and higher.
  • Drops for all sources, including monsters, chests, destructibles, etc.
  • Drops in all game modes, not but Nephalem Rifts or Greater Rifts.

As of Patch ii.2.0, this item stacks upwards to 100.

Strategy Implications [edit | edit source]

Prior to Ramaladni's Gift existence added to the game, weapon sockets were considered all-but mandatory, and thus weapons without a socket were unused past well-geared characters. For those players, non only did a weapon have to have a socket, only also a practiced DPS roll and +mainstat also. Thus a weapon could roll with ii of the three and be useful after an enchant, but a weapon that didn't roll with either mainstat or a socket was generally considered worthless. Ramaladni's Gift makes this easier to surmount.

Since the RG tin only add a socket, players who find a weapon with a socket will usually enchant that socket into another beneficial master affix, and then add a socket via the Ramaladni's Gift.

There have been many requests from fans to brand the RG work on other item slots, only and so far it remains only usable on weapons. The RG would be of smashing benefit to use on jewelery, since Patch 2.ane introduced Legendary Gems which can only be socketed in rings and amulets; item slots where sockets were formerly considered undesirable.

Bugged drop in early PTR.

Fans learned of the Ramaladni's Souvenir via datamining earlier it was officially appear, and Blizzard replied to questions about the item once it was public.[ii][iii]

[bluish]Here'southward how Ramalandi's Gift is currently intended to piece of work. This is all with the caveat that it's even so under development, and potentially subject to change:

  • It volition add a socket to an unsocketed weapon
  • It simply works on weapons
  • It will work on enchanted weapons, so long as they don't have a socket
  • It effectively adds an item affix in the form of a socket
  • The added socket provided by Ramaladni'due south Gift cannot be enchanted.
  • You cannot use Ramaladni's on a weapon more than than once.
  • Similarly, you cannot utilize Ramaladni's on a weapon that already has a socket.

You lot can, however:

  • Supervene upon a natural socket on a weapon with another main stat (like VIT or STR or INT), and then use Ramaladni'south afterwards.
  • Supplant a re-rolled socket on a weapon with another primary stat (like VIT or STR or INT), and then use Ramaladni's Gift after.
  • Enchant a weapon afterward a socket has been added using Ramaladni's Gift. You but won't exist able to re-roll another socket on that particular weapon.

I realize the above may be somewhat disruptive, so please let me know if you have any additional questions near this item'due south functionality.

...

Also, the item is not yet fully implemented, which means it can't be looted correct now (even though it's dropping on the PTR). We're aware of that outcome, but we don't have an ETA to share at the moment on when we expect information technology to exist 100% functional.

...

Some of you take been wondering if you'll be able to re-roll the gifted socket from Ramalandi's Souvenir, and that'southward a adept question. I dug around to notice out, and the answer is that the socket this Legendary consumable provides to a weapon is not eligible for Enchanting.

Of form, this is still under development, though, so there'south a risk that it will modify before all is said and done.

Further clarification noted that it was not a Seasonal Legendary and would drib for all types of characters one time Patch 2.ane went alive.[four]

Ramaladni's Gift is non a Seasonal Legendary item and will be available in all games modes (Normal, Hardcore, and Seasonal) in one case patch 2.ane.0 goes live.

Gallery [edit | edit source]

Many players institute this item on the PTR before it was enabled. It dropped like a legendary fabric or recipe, just could non be picked up and diameter the bright pink "Bad Data" icon that NYI objects oft get.
